The Danbury and Candlewood Lake region is one of Connecticut's most naturally beautiful places to call home — and the outdoor spaces that surround your property deserve to reflect that beauty with the same care, craftsmanship, and genuine passion for the outdoors that the landscape itself inspires. YardScapes Landscape, based in New Milford and serving the greater Danbury and Candlewood Lake area, has built a reputation as one of Connecticut's premier landscape design, build, and maintenance companies — bringing expert outdoor design, stunning hardscape construction, and meticulous property care to the Litchfield County and Fairfield County properties that define this extraordinary corner of New England. And in Dawn Rotella, YardScapes brings a team member whose personal love of the outdoors is as authentic and deep as the work the company does. Here is your complete guide.
Who Is Dawn Rotella and YardScapes Landscape?
Dawn Rotella is a YardScapes Landscape team member who embodies the outdoor-first philosophy that defines everything YardScapes does. Originally from New Fairfield, CT — right in the heart of the Candlewood Lake region — Dawn brings more than 35 years of experience in office administration, marketing, and public relations to her role at YardScapes alongside a personal relationship with the Connecticut outdoors that is genuinely extraordinary.
Dawn has served as an outdoor guide facilitating rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and overnight adventures — a background that gives her a hands-on, experiential understanding of what outdoor spaces mean to people and why they matter deeply. She spends every available moment outside — hiking, camping, kayaking, foraging for wild edibles, and visiting national parks — and her self-described odd hobby of picking up litter on every outdoor outing and photographing it for social media reflects a genuine environmental ethic that aligns perfectly with YardScapes' commitment to sustainable outdoor practices. By her own estimate, Dawn has collected more than 50,000 pieces of litter from local roadsides, parks, and waterways — a number that speaks to a level of personal commitment to the Candlewood Lake region's natural beauty that is genuinely humbling.
YardScapes Landscape is based at 18 Aspetuck Ridge Road in New Milford, CT — perfectly positioned to serve the Danbury, New Milford, New Fairfield, Brookfield, and Candlewood Lake communities with the full range of landscape design, hardscape construction, and property maintenance services that Connecticut property owners need to create and maintain extraordinary outdoor environments.
The YardScapes Philosophy: Professional Landscape Craftsmanship With a Community Heart
What distinguishes YardScapes Landscape from the many landscape companies serving the greater Danbury area is the combination of genuine professional craftsmanship and deep community investment that defines everything the company does. YardScapes' Quad-Am Golf Classic charitable tournament, their annual Day of Service, their GreenCare for Troops program — which provides free lawn care services to the families of deployed military personnel and veterans — and their sustained community involvement reflect a company that sees its work as inseparable from its responsibility to the community it serves.
That community-first character is as visible in the quality and care of the work YardScapes delivers to each client property as it is in the public service programs the company runs. A company that genuinely cares about its community cares about the quality of every job it does — and YardScapes' track record of happy client testimonials reflects the sustained excellence that genuine professional pride produces.
Design and Build: Creating Connecticut's Most Beautiful Outdoor Spaces
YardScapes Landscape's design and build capabilities cover the full spectrum of outdoor construction and installation that transforms Connecticut properties into extraordinary outdoor living environments — perfectly suited to the Candlewood Lake region's natural character and the New England lifestyle that its residents love.
Outdoor Kitchens: A professionally designed and built outdoor kitchen is one of the most transformative investments a Connecticut property owner can make — extending the functional living space of the home into the outdoors and creating the entertainment hub that Candlewood Lake area summers demand. YardScapes' outdoor kitchen construction integrates cooking, preparation, and storage capabilities into custom-designed outdoor structures that complement the broader landscape design while providing the practical functionality that serious outdoor entertainers need.
Waterfalls and Water Gardens: YardScapes' waterscape capabilities — covering custom waterfalls, ponds, and water gardens — bring the sight, sound, and ecological richness of moving water to residential and commercial properties throughout the Danbury and Candlewood Lake area. For Candlewood Lake area properties that already live within the sights and sounds of Connecticut's most beloved lake, a custom waterscape adds an intimate water feature dimension that complements the broader natural setting in uniquely beautiful ways.
Fire Pits and Fire Boulders®: YardScapes is particularly distinguished in the fire feature category by its signature Fire Boulder® — a proprietary fire feature product that combines the natural beauty of Connecticut stone with the warmth and gathering power of a fire feature in a form that is uniquely YardScapes. Traditional fire pit designs are also available, providing the outdoor gathering focal point that extends Connecticut's outdoor living season well into the cooler months that Candlewood Lake area autumns and springs provide.
Patios, Paths, and Walkways: Custom patio design and construction — in natural stone, pavers, or other materials that complement each property's character — creates the outdoor living foundation that every other outdoor amenity depends on. YardScapes' path and walkway construction connects the elements of the outdoor environment with the elegant, durable, and visually seamless transitions that distinguish a professionally designed landscape from a piecemeal accumulation of outdoor improvements.
Walls: Retaining walls, garden walls, and decorative stone walls are among the most structurally important and visually impactful elements of Connecticut landscape design — managing the grade changes that New England's hilly terrain consistently creates while adding the defined structure and visual character that formal landscape design requires. YardScapes' wall construction expertise covers both the engineering requirements of structural retaining walls and the aesthetic considerations of decorative stone work.
Cobblestone Aprons and Curbing: The distinctive New England character of cobblestone driveway aprons and stone curbing adds a timeless, place-specific quality to Candlewood Lake area properties that reflects the region's deep architectural heritage. YardScapes' cobblestone and curbing work brings this distinctively Connecticut character to property entrances and perimeters with the craftsmanship that lasting stone work requires.
Outdoor Lighting: Landscape lighting extends the beauty and usability of outdoor spaces into the evening hours — highlighting the best elements of the landscape design, creating safety and visibility along paths and driveways, and adding the warmth and ambiance that makes outdoor spaces genuinely inviting after dark. YardScapes' outdoor lighting design uses low-voltage LED technology to create beautiful, energy-efficient lighting schemes tailored to each property's specific features and character.
Ornamental Gardens: YardScapes' ornamental garden design and installation brings the color, texture, fragrance, and seasonal interest of expertly selected and planted ornamental gardens to Danbury and Candlewood Lake area properties — creating the garden environments that make Connecticut properties genuinely extraordinary throughout the growing season.
Maintenance Services: Keeping Your Property Consistently Beautiful
YardScapes Landscape's maintenance programs provide the ongoing professional care that protects landscape investments and keeps properties looking their absolute best through every Connecticut season.
Estate and Garden Maintenance: YardScapes' estate and garden maintenance services provide the comprehensive, detail-oriented property care that premium Candlewood Lake area properties deserve — covering pruning, bed care, plant health monitoring, seasonal cleanups, and the full range of garden maintenance tasks that keep established landscapes performing beautifully year after year.
Lawn Mowing: Consistent, professional lawn mowing service maintains the manicured turf quality that contributes enormously to a property's overall curb appeal and the personal enjoyment of outdoor spaces. YardScapes' lawn mowing service uses professional equipment and the precise execution that distinguishes professional results from DIY alternatives.
Lawn Fertilization and Care: A healthy, dense, deep-green lawn does not happen by accident — it requires the right fertilization program, soil amendments, and turf care treatments applied at the right times and in the right quantities. YardScapes' lawn care programs use science-based approaches to turf health that produce the consistently beautiful lawns that Candlewood Lake area properties deserve.
Property Mulching: Fresh mulch is one of the most cost-effective and visually transformative landscape maintenance investments a property owner can make — providing weed suppression, moisture retention, soil temperature moderation, and the clean, finished appearance that defines well-maintained landscape beds. YardScapes' property mulching service delivers fresh, professionally applied mulch to landscape beds throughout the property efficiently and beautifully.
Pest Control: Connecticut's landscape pest challenges — including tick populations that have expanded significantly in recent years throughout Fairfield and Litchfield Counties — require professional, effective pest control programs that protect both the landscape plants and the people who enjoy the outdoor spaces that YardScapes helps create. YardScapes' pest control services address the full range of landscape pest threats that Danbury and Candlewood Lake area properties face.
Winter Services: Connecticut's winters create significant property maintenance demands — from snow removal and ice management to the winterization of irrigation systems, outdoor structures, and vulnerable plant materials. YardScapes' winter services ensure that Candlewood Lake area properties are protected through the full winter season and ready for the spring landscaping season that follows.
Community Investment: A Company That Gives Back
YardScapes Landscape's community investment programs reflect the same values that Dawn Rotella brings to her personal outdoor advocacy. The annual YardScapes Quad-Am Golf Classic raises funds for community causes. The Day of Service brings the YardScapes team into community service work that extends the company's landscape expertise to community spaces and people who need it. GreenCare for Troops provides free lawn care to military families during deployment — a genuine and meaningful thank-you to the service members and families whose sacrifice the Danbury and Candlewood Lake community is grateful for.
