Meet the Artist: Brad Stanton

Brad Stanton’s journey behind the camera spans more than 45 years. He began as a commercial photographer working with a wide range of clients—from manufacturers to furniture designers, advertising firms, and artists. That work demanded a sharp eye for lighting, composition, and technical mastery. Over time, Stanton’s focus shifted from client-driven projects to a more personal approach, where photography became a reflection of how he sees the world.

Stanton’s work is not just about snapping a picture—it’s about precision and intention. From capturing the shot to overseeing the final print using a large-format printer in his studio, every step is carefully handled to combine technical skill with emotional depth. His photographs capture the familiar in a new light, encouraging viewers to stop, reflect, and notice the beauty in everyday scenes.

The Inspiration Behind the Work

Growing up in Newtown and now living in Danbury, Stanton draws heavily from his surroundings. His photographs often explore local landscapes, textures, and quiet moments that many of us might overlook. The goal is simple: to make the ordinary feel thoughtful and remarkable. Walking through the exhibition, you’ll see how Stanton transforms everyday scenes into images that feel almost like a conversation between the viewer and the moment captured.
